This week. Well, it's been productive, at least. Mostly. Kind of. The basement is all clean and shiny minus some laundry that needs to be dealt with! I don't know why people have an issue with laundry. I don't. I actually enjoy it once I start on it. I just have this awful habit of never starting things. In the same boat? Here are some ways to help you get going.
- Turn on some music! Music is a great motivator and for those of us who need some sort of noise going on in order to stay focused on a task, why not choose music? Pandora and Songza are great sites to use for playlists that you don't have to make yourself or you can be like me and download Spotify. You still have to pay to get rid of commercials, but can customize what you listen to. Think iTunes but free (and with ads).
- Just keep working. Whenever I feel like I can take a short break from my work, especially at the beginning of my task, or I can watch just one episode of Gilmore Girls before I start, I will generally not start my task until it's "too late to be productive" or I'll just forget about it. So whenever you're tempted to quit before you start, just put your head down and git 'er done!
- Set alarms. And by set alarms, I mean alarms on you phone. If you know your task is going to take all day or a good portion of it, go ahead and schedule breaks and then keep your phone out of your reach. Don't stop until the fat phone rings!
There are so many ways to up your productivity if you aren't good at staying focused but these are ones that I find help the most.
