My life is pretty simple. I'm a SAHM (stay at home mom) who spends way too much time refreshing my Facebook newsfeed and pouring over Pinterest and various blogs. I also happen to dabble in some frivolous fun of online SIM games (specifically this one).
I am an ex-military wife and I can say that now that we are through with the Army, civilian life is a lot less chaotic and frustrating but also a lot less close than I had gotten used to. But I don't think I'd change anything. I have a wonderful husband who provides for me the best he can. I get mad and angry and frustrated with his constant gaming ("You've been on ALL night!" "But I can't get off yet, B and R just got on..." "..." "FINE. But this makes me feel really bad because I said I could play with them." "...") but I also know that it's his way of dealing with the stresses of the day and the ones that will occur throughout the evening. |
He is my rock and my best friend. I wouldn't change anything about him from his (sometimes extreme) protectiveness to his playful and loving personality. His loyalty is beyond compare.
About a year and a half after getting married, I graduated college with two Bachelors in Equine Studies. One specifying in training and one with a specification in business management. Let's just say I spent a whole lot of money (i.e. borrowed) for a couple of degrees that were combined on one little piece of paper that wouldn't even make a decent sized photo on my living room wall. Some day, I'm going to fork over the money for a good picture frame with equally awesome matting so that at least it looks like it cost the 100k I borrowed.
My husband was so supportive of my schooling and we had spent most of that first 1.5 years on opposite sides of the country; him in Georgia, me in Montana. And what really sealed the deal that this guy was so awesome?
He bought me my dream dog; a tiny Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Peanut. Everyone who met her fell in love with her and oohed and awed over her tiny little legs and the fact that she looked like a tiny rabbit or stuffed animal. I even had someone's kid try to take her out of the dog park, once. Needless to say, I didn't let kids hold her after that except at my house.
(Peanut was recently put down a month due to distemper after being diagnosed with kidney failure a month before. And yes, she was up to date on vaccinations but the vet believed she had it as a puppy before she got her first shots. RIP Peanut, March 3, 2012 - September 22, 2012)
A few months later, we added another puppy to the household. She is a beautiful black border collie cross named Callie who happened to have a birthday less than a month after Peanut's birthday. People thought we were crazy taking on two puppies at the same time but they were two of the best behaved dogs I've ever had the pleasure of living with. They still are.

And then there were five.
When we found out we were pregnant with N, my hubby and I were in total disbelief. We'd recently quit trying for a baby a month before because he was told he was going to be deploying. Of course, you know what they say, you'll get one once you stop trying. Or, that's how it worked for us. N arrived July 24, 2013. I had moved back to New Mexico during my husband's deployment and was unable to meet him when he got back on US soil due to how late it was in my pregnancy. Because he had to participate in a mandatory 2 week reintroduction to civilian life course, I didn't get to see him until he flew into town on July 23 at noon. 12 hours later, I was being checked in to Labor and Delivery and another 9 hours after that I was holding our brand new baby boy. Motherhood has been an adventure and we've had a really easy baby. It almost isn't fair because none of our future kids will probably be this easy. |
