If Albuquerque isn't known for much, it's certainly known for its International Balloon Fiesta that brings in hundreds of balloonists from all over the world for an exciting and colorful 9 days. It's also the world's largest balloon festival, hosting over 500 balloons this year. It's also one of the top festivals that many bloggers and travel magazines insist that people go to. While going up in one of the many beautiful hot air contraptions may cost you your firstborn, it's an experience unlike any other. Fear of heights? The fear is generally triggered by wind in the face which creates a sense of falling. Lucky for you, balloons move based on the wind so wind is rarely felt. Not interested in flying but want the experience anyway? You may be able to find a willing balloonist who will allow you to help crew (i.e. put up and tear down the balloon).
I'm pretty fortunate because my father-in-law is a balloonist and so all my trips have been free of charge. Of course, he still manages to take my firstborn the moment he lays eyes on him. For a man who is habitually 30+ minutes late to anything and everything besides work, he sure can get to a location quickly once he hears N is there.
While the balloon fiesta is a sure sign of fall for native New Mexicans, new season premiers (and of course pumpkin spice lattes) signal it for people worldwide. I'm a bit of a binge watcher when it comes to watching my shows (I had a lot of free time while being an Army wife) but I don't get to regularly watch them on a real TV. Online watching for this lady! :(
So, by a series of pictures, may I present to you, my TV list.

Ah, Bones. Love it. Still trying to catch up on the last season because my hubby hates watching more than two episodes at a time and he gets upset if I watch it alone. I LOVE The Mindy Project. It cracks me up every episode. I don't think there's been one where I was just sort of "meh" or "It was good but not fabulous." And it's the perfect length for watching while doing dishes and cleaning up the kitchen. Does anyone not have a soft spot in their hear for Zoey Deschanel? Seriously. Those eyes. That humor. Her hair. And mix it all up in this quirky comedy show and it's perfection. Oh George, oh Wade. However are we gonna choose?? Everyone has a little southern somethin' in them and this show brings out all the fans to ward off the humidity and heat, all the "Bless her heart..." comments, and pulls us towards that little back road they sing about in all the country songs. Now when does this season premier? I have no idea :( Reign. It's like Tutors meets The Vampire Diaries. Only better and significantly less historically accurate than I'm sure a lot of people believe. But those men. *swoon* Another one that I really need to catch up on. I'm hoping Netflix has this last season or is getting it soon. This is one of the few that my husband will watch with me without pretending to like it! Speaking of The Vampire Diaries... So, they definitely had a season in there that was a struggle to keep up with but I think it's back on track and I'm enjoying it again :) But then, who wouldn't? The spin-off of The Vampire Diaries, The Originals is all about...well, the original vampires and all their little troubles down in New Orleans. I have this distinct feeling that I'm going to be liking it way more than TVD. Maybe. |
Okay, so I'm realizing I watch way too much TV. Oh well. Everyone has at least one flaw, I guess. And this isn't even my full list. But I'm so tired of getting images soooo you just get text now!
ABC and NBC have a pretty good lineups this season as well.
I've finally watched the pilot episode of A To Z (NBC) which seems like the making of a very good series, albeit with a terrible, known ending to the relationship it's about. Sort of reminds me of HIMYM. But maybe it's because the lead actress was The Mother in HIMYM....hmm.
I also watched the pilot for Selfie (ABC) and I think it could be one of my new favorites. We'll see. I've heard good things about How To Get Away With Murder and Manhattan Love Story, too, but I haven't had a chance to watch them.
And then there are the tried and true shows of ABC including Grey's Anatomy, Nashville, and Mistresses (sadly a summer show).
Oh, and let's not forget our lovable HBO! Game of Thrones rules this house with an iron fist. My husband is to thank for it, really. He read the books before I did and he's not even a big reader.
Okay, okay. I'll get back to real life, now. I'm sure someone is needing my assistance. Or something. Or maybe I'll just watch one more show before I click out of my browser...
