Remember those days when you were sick and you'd give anything to be sick during the week so your weekend was free to do whatever you wanted? I miss those days. Now, all I can think about is how I wish I had gotten sick on a weekend so that I had some help with N. Not that he's that bad, or anything. He just has more energy than I have to give when dealing with a horrid head cold and nausea.
I miss being able to sleep all day when I'm sick. No one to bother you except to ask if you need anything...it was lovely. The things we take for granted when we're younger certainly come back to haunt us with 20/20 hindsight.
It's so easy to feel like you're "young at heart." Of course you can do that thing that everyone else is doing, you're not old! You have responsibilities, sure, but you could definitely make time for that fun activity.
WRONG. That time comes and all you want to do is use that precious time to sleep. Mmmm...sleep....zzzzzzzzz
I know, I know. I'm being dramatic and I'm only 24 and I haven't experienced enough of life to even consider myself old, blah blah blah. You don't have to be old to feel it. Same with youth! I always feel so young compared to people around me and I feel like I'm still fresh out of high school. But then I get around those kids who are fresh out of high school and I feel like my hair should be grey and wrinkles covering my face. But then, student loans will do that to you. :/
I miss going on dates. Not just dinner and a movie, we still do those from time to time. I'm talking about a real date, one that didn't just end when you got back home. The kind where you stayed up until all hours of the morning watching movies and cuddled on the couch and talking and fooling around. Now, I'm lucky if I can even make it through a small conversation about the movie we just watched or a dinner we just ate.
So, to all those childless people out there, don't take it with a grain of salt when those who have been there done that tell you to make sure you take time with your significant other after having kids. Keep up the date nights and don't feel guilty about needing a babysitter once a week or more. It just gets harder to find time or find money or this or that so take advantage of it while you can!
